What’s new on the menu at FedExField?

WASHINGTON — If last year’s didn’t get your stomach growling, this year’s concessions menu at FedExField might have what it takes.

At a preview event on Wednesday, some lucky fans and members of the media got a sneak peek at new additions.

This year, football fans can dig into dishes like the “Hottodoggu,” a Japanese-inspired hot dog, or the “Piled High Pit” sandwich, which packs a quarter-pound of sirloin and turkey onto a kaiser roll. There’s also the DC Que Dog, a beef hot dog topped with BBQ pork, coleslaw and fried jalapenos.

If you’re seeking out something sweet at FedExField, there are plenty of dessert options. Alexandria, Virginia, based Maribeth’s Bakery provides custom cakes and cookies, decorated with the Washington Redskins logo for Wednesday’s event.

“We do those things for the Redskins throughout the season. They order a lot. … From the looks of the orders we get, it looks like they’re having a good time,” said Tom Nyerges, of Maribeth’s Bakery.

For fans who would like something lighter, there are vegetarian and gluten free options, as well as dishes such as the Heartland Tuna Salad. The produce you’ll see at FedExField comes from Baltimore’s Hearn Kirkwood, which likes to keep things close to home.

“We’ll try to get as much local as possible [and] cut down on the carbon footprint. At the same time it’s a better product — higher quality, cheaper price,” said Michael Pressman, with Hearn Kirkwood.

And back in their seats, fans will be happy to see a new addition as they juggle their snacks: cup holders. Senior Vice President of Stadium Operations and Guest Experience Chris Bloyer said that this year, every seat will have a cup holder.
