ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Paige Bueckers scored 18 of her 32 points in the first quarter, Jessica Shepard had 11 points and 11 rebounds, and the Dallas Wings beat the Seattle Storm 92-70 on Sunday to tie the franchise’s single-season wins record.
The Wings (22-16) can clinch a playoff spot with a home win against Portland on Tuesday.
Bueckers was unstoppable in the first quarter, making seven of her eight shot attempts, including all four 3-pointers. The Wings outscored the Storm 34-17 in the opening 10 minutes.
Seattle scored the final 14 points in the second quarter, holding Dallas without a point for the final four-plus minutes of the half, but still trailed 56-35.
The Storm (7-31) have lost three straight and 14 of 15.
Flau’jae Johnson made a career-high tying five 3-pointers and finished with 23 points for the Storm. Jade Melbourne added 15 points and Dominique Malonga scored 12.
FEVER 113, SKY 90
CHICAGO (AP) — Caitlin Clark scored 37 points, Kelsey Mitchell added 30 and Indiana pulled away from Chicago for a victory.
Clark made a career-high eight of Indiana’s franchise record 18 3-pointers. She also had 10 assists.
The Fever closed out a 3-2 trip with their third game in four nights. They had dropped two in a row.
Natasha Cloud had 16 points and seven assists for Chicago, which had won three in a row. Azura Stevens added 14 points and eight rebounds. The Sky were eliminated from the playoff race with the loss and a win by Washington on Sunday night.
Indiana played without center Aliyah Boston, who was sidelined by a right leg injury. Boston had 22 points and six assists in Saturday’s 109-102 loss at New York.
MYSTICS 105, FIRE 100
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Shakira Austin had a career-high 31 points and 10 rebounds and Georgia Amoore hit two free throws with 4.2 seconds left to help Washington rally from a 14-point deficit and beat Portland.
Kiki Iriafen shot 7 for 11 from the field and finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Mystics (22-15). Sonia Citron added 14 points, and Cotie McMahon and Amoore scored 13 apiece.
Amoore’s foul on a 3-point shot was upgraded to a flagrant. Carla Leite made all three free throws and then added a layup that cut the Fire’s deficit to 92-90 with 3:09 to play. Amoore responded with a basket inside and Portland got no closer.
Leite had 27 points and 11 assists, and Emily Engstler hit five 3-pointers and finished with 23 points, both career highs, for the Fire (15-22). Megan DiLeo had 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting and Bridget Carleton added 18 points and five steals.
Leite hit two 3s and DiLeo scored four points in the final minute before Amoore’s free throws sealed it.
ACES 88, TEMPO 78
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — A’ja Wilson had 27 points, seven rebounds and seven assists to help Las Vegas beat Toronto.
The Tempo (11-26) played their second consecutive game at Rogers Arena, this time in front of 15,877 fans, after they beat Portland on Friday to snap a 12-game losing streak.
Jackie Young added 21 points for the Aces (26-13), who pulled within a half-game of second-place Golden State in the WNBA standings.
Kia Nurse led Toronto with 19 points and Kiki Rice scored 14 and Temi Fagbenle 13.
