On a per-share basis, the Saint Paul, Minnesota-based company said it had profit of $1.90. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and pretax expenses, were $2.09 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.08 per share.
The cleaning, food-safety and pest-control services company posted revenue of $4.42 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.4 billion.
For the current quarter ending in September, Ecolab expects its per-share earnings to range from $2.13 to $2.23.
The company expects full-year earnings in the range of $8.05 to $8.25 per share.
