After making the Sweet 16 for just the second time in school history and the first time in 52 years, Virginia Tech’s ride in the NCAA Tournament came to an end Friday night. The Hokies were beaten 75-73 by top overall seed Duke in the East Regional semifinal game at Capital One Arena.
The Hokies made the tournament field for a third consecutive year in 2019, the first time they’ve done so in school history. Virginia Tech has only advanced to the Elite Eight once (1967) and has never made a Final Four.
