WASHINGTON — This week, the public can head online to vote for which one of eight Maryland citizens will sing the national anthem at the .
The Maryland State Arts Council asked citizens to submit their rendition of the national anthem to the Star-Spangled Sing-Off contest for the chance to win $1,814 and sing at the celebration. Eight finalists were selected after being scored by a panel of judges.
The Star-Spangled Spectacular, a week-long celebration held in Baltimore, Maryland this September, will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore and the national anthem.
