Gas prices up second week in a row

WASHINGTON – Gas prices went up again. The latest ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµapp Pain in the Gas Survey shows the average price of a gallon of regular is $3.53, up 4 cents from last week.

Midgrade gasoline also went up 3 cents to $3.73. Meanwhile, premium gas is up a penny to $3.84 a gallon. Diesel is up 3 cents to $3.88.

The average for regular fuel this week is cheapest in Virginia, where regular gasoline is $3.44. The average is $3.46 in Maryland. In the District, the average for a gallon of gas is $3.69.

One year ago, on July 21, 2011, the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµapp Pain in the Gas Survey found a gallon of unleaded regular averaged $3.81.
