What’s open and closed on Labor Day

WASHINGTON– To help you plan for Labor Day, ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµapp has a list of what’s open and closed in your area on Monday, Sept. 7.

Closed:

  • Federal and local government offices
  • Schools
  • Libraries
  • Post Offices

Most banks are closed for the holiday. Liquor stores in Virginia will be open. In Maryland and D.C., the choice is left to the owner of the store.

Pools, parks, recreation centers and other facilities:

Labor Day schedules vary by county, so be sure to check your county’s Parks and Recreation Department page.

Trash pickup

Fairfax County and Arlington County will provide normal trash and recycling services on Labor Day. Other areas will not have trash and recycling services today.

Traffic and parking

  • Parking is free in D.C., with the of areas around Nationals Park. Be sure to read all posted parking signs.
  • Be prepared to feed the meters in Annapolis and Howard County, Maryland.
  • The and parking meters and garages will not be free on the holiday.

Public Transportation

  • WMATA
    • Parking is free at all Metrorail facilities.
    • Yellow and Green line trains are running on .
    • Red, Orange, Silver and Blue lines will run on a 26-minute schedule until closing on Monday night.
    • Check specific advisories for Metrorail lines and stations .
  • ART
    • Only ART bus lines 41, 51 and 87 will operate on a .
    • All other ART routes will not operate during the holiday.
