Members of the District’s sports teams turned out to greet residents as they became voters on Tuesday, the last day to register in advance for the election.
Representatives from the Washington Football Team, the Washington Wizards, the 2018 Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals, the 2019 WNBA champion Washington Mystics and the 2019 World Series champ Washington Nationals (including the Racing Presidents) were at the Entertainment and Sports Arena to hand out souvenirs to registrants.
Nick Jacobs, a spokesman for the D.C. Board of Elections, said the goal of the event was to remind residents in Ward 7 and 8 to make their voices heard.
鈥淲e really wanted to do that to create more opportunities, more convenient opportunities,鈥� he said.
Tuesday is the last day that residents can register early for the Nov. 3 election. If you can’t register, same-day registration is available during early voting (from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2) and on Election Day.
