WASHINGTON 鈥� Metro has revised its track work plans for this weekend to cancel a major planned shutdown of the Blue, Orange and Silver Line tracks downtown.
Instead of a for ceiling tile replacement, trains will instead single-track only after 8 p.m. between McPherson Square and Smithsonian stations for work on communication cables. During that single-tracking, Silver Line trains will only run between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston, so riders between those stations and other parts of the region will need to transfer to or from an Orange Line train.
The postponed weekend shutdown is now instead listed on Metro鈥檚 long-term track work schedule the following weekend, Sat. Apr. 30 and Sun. May 1.
Other track work is still scheduled this weekend on the Red and Green lines. The Green Line work includes the and a Sunday morning that will lead to single-tracking in that area until about 2 p.m. Yellow Line trains are only scheduled to run between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Square this weekend rather than their usual service to and from Fort Totten.
