WASHINGTON聽鈥� An overturned tanker truck leaking fuel forced a six-hour closure of southbound Maryland Route 3 between Interstate 97 and Maryland Route 175 in Gambrills, Maryland, Monday morning.
The crash that sent the truck into a ravine happened in the 6 a.m. hour between the exit ramp from southbound I-97 and the intersection with Maryland Route 175. The highway reopened just before 12:30 p.m.
The overturned truck was carrying 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel that started leaking out at a rate of 20- to 30 gallons per minute after the crash before it was stopped, fire officials say.
